  3. Long-press the face. The customize screen opens; tap OPTIONS.
  4. Under Calendars, tick the calendars you want to see. At least one always stays on.
  5. Tap the checkmark to save.

Steps: weather

  1. Go to the weather face.
  2. If the app uses Apple Weather, iPadOS asks for your location the first time. Allow it while using the app.
  3. Long-press the face. The customize screen opens; tap OPTIONS.
  4. With Home Assistant: choose your weather entity at Weather Source.
  5. For the weather somewhere else, tap Add or Remove Locations…, search for a city or address and tap Done.
  6. Under Locations on This Face, turn on the places this face shows.
  7. Tap the checkmark to save.

What you see

  • Weather: the weather now, high and low, and the coming hours under Hourly Forecast. Scroll down for ten days and tiles with wind, humidity and more. Tiles without data are left out.
  • Calendar: your appointments for the coming days.

Check

  • The weather face shows a temperature and a description.
  • The calendar face shows appointments from the calendars you ticked.

Not working?

"No location. Allow location in Settings › Privacy."

The app may not use your location. Turn it on in the iPadOS Settings app, under instnt hub.

"Apple Weather didn't respond"

Apple Weather is briefly unavailable. The weather is fetched at most every 30 minutes. With Home Assistant you can use Home.

With Home Assistant there is no weather source

Add a weather integration in Home Assistant, for example Meteorologisk institutt (Met.no); it's free and needs no account. The forecast needs Home Assistant 2024.3 or later.

With Home Assistant you don't see the iPad's calendars

With Home Assistant the app uses the calendars in Home Assistant. Add your calendar there, for example Local Calendar, Google Calendar or CalDAV (for iCloud, with an app-specific password).

The face stays empty for a moment after starting

The connection to Home Assistant isn't there yet. The app quickly tries again.
