Controls from the couch

A face with the devices you pick yourself, room by room. Hold a tile and the device fills the whole screen.

The controls face is the screen for the couch: tiles for the devices you pick yourself, room by room, with that room's scenes as buttons at the bottom. Tap a tile to switch something on or off. Hold it and the device fills the whole screen, big enough to control without aiming.

Steps: adding the face

  1. Pinch with two fingers, or swipe up from the bottom edge. The overview of your faces opens.
  2. Tap + next to Customize and choose Controls. The face is placed after the face that was in the middle, filled with the devices you have, by room.
  3. The rooms are at the top. Tap a room and you only see what is in it; that room's scenes are at the bottom.
  4. Prefer everything in one grid? Tap Customize, then OPTIONS › Layout › Whole Home. Under THEME you pick Night, Glass or Light.

Steps: changing the tiles

  1. Long-press an empty spot on the face. Edit mode opens, with the rooms below the bar.
  2. Tap + to add a device, − to remove one. Drag a tile to reorder, within the room. Pull the corner to make a tile bigger.
  3. Tap Done.

Full-screen control

Device Open with What you do
Light Hold the tile Drag across the screen to set brightness; tap the bulb for on or off
Blind Hold the tile Drag to set how far it is open; the fill drops from the top, like the blind
Fan Hold the tile Drag to set the speed; if the fan has no speeds, just on and off
Lock Hold the tile One big button. Locking is immediate; unlocking asks for a second tap
Thermostat Tap the number ‹ and › for the number, the mode at the bottom right
Camera Tap Live view; the button at the bottom right shows your other cameras in a strip along the bottom

Close with the cross at the top left. This also works on the tiles of the home face and of a companion, as long as the tile holds one device.

Check

  • Tap a room and hold a light. The screen turns one color and the fill follows your finger; when you let go, the brightness goes to the light.
  • Hold a lock and tap the button. It says Tap again to unlock; only on the second tap does the lock open.

Not working?

There are no rooms at the top

The rooms come from the devices on the face. Put the device in a room in Home Assistant or in the Home app, or choose Layout › Whole Home.

Long-pressing opens edit mode, not the device

Only a tile with one device opens full screen. A tile with several devices (a group of lights) goes to edit mode on a long press; tap such a tile for on or off, and use the slider inside it.

The lock doesn't open on the first tap

That is on purpose: unlocking asks for a second tap, within a few seconds. Locking is immediate.

The fan only has on and off

That fan does not report speeds to Home Assistant or HomeKit.
