Getting started

You open instnt hub for the first time, choose what to connect and reach your first face.

3 minUpdated October 21, 2026

instnt hub works without any connection: the clock, the weather, your calendar and your photos then come from the iPad itself. You can connect Home Assistant and HomeKit now or later.

Steps

  1. Open instnt hub. You see Welcome to instnt hub with the list Connections below it.
  2. To connect Home Assistant, tap Connect Home Assistant and follow Connect Home Assistant.
  3. To connect HomeKit, tap Connect HomeKit and follow Connect HomeKit.
  4. To try it without devices first, tap Try Demo Devices. You get lights, a thermostat, blinds and a lock that only exist in the app.
  5. Tap Get Started.
  6. Swipe sideways to go to the next face.

Opening Settings

  1. Pinch with two fingers, or swipe up from the bottom edge. The overview of your faces opens.
  2. Tap the gear at the bottom left.
  3. Tap Connections in the sidebar.

Close with Close at the top right.

Check

  • After Get Started, the first face fills the screen.
  • If you turned on the demo, Settings › Connections shows the number of devices next to Demo Devices, and "alleen in deze app" (only in this app).

Not working?

You want the demo devices gone

Go to Settings › Connections and tap Turn Off next to Demo Devices.

You see no faces with devices, music or cameras

Those only appear once there is a source: Home Assistant, HomeKit or the demo. Music and cameras only come through Home Assistant.
