If you use Home Assistant, start with What works: that list often points straight at what's missing.
Steps
- Look at the top of the screen. If the connection to Home Assistant drops, it shows Connecting… or No Connection, with the button Retry. The faces stay usable.
- Go to Settings › Connections and look at the dot next to each source: green is connected, orange is busy, red is no connection.
- Look up your problem below.
Check
Every source you use has a green dot.
Not working?
Tap the three dots next to Home Assistant and choose Reconnect. Away from home you need an external address. See Connect Home Assistant.
If you use two-factor authentication, choose Access token.
You're logged in with an account without administrator rights. Home Assistant doesn't pass on the room layout then. The devices do work.
Tap Allow Access and turn on access for instnt hub. See Connect HomeKit.
You connected both Home Assistant with the HomeKit Bridge and HomeKit. Turn HomeKit off.
Give the app full access to your photos in the iPadOS Settings app, under instnt hub. See Photos.
Allow location in the iPadOS Settings app, under instnt hub. See Calendar and weather.
Get a new npsso token and paste it in the PlayStation card in Settings › Connections. See PS5 companion.
Did you have something open, or did you swipe it away? See Companions.
While a companion is on, the timer is running or music is playing, rest doesn't start. See Keeping the iPad on.
Settings › About › Reset App erases all connections, logins and tokens; you start at the welcome screen. Faces and widgets stay. This button is only there when Home Assistant is connected.
